Bio

I was born and raised in Lancaster, SC. In my junior year of high school, I started taking classes as a dual enrollment student at USC Lancaster. After graduating from Lancaster High School, I completed a semester at both USC Columbia and USC Aiken before transferring back to USC Lancaster. I completed my bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies through Palmetto College. I did majors in English and Sociology and a cognate in Business. At USC Lancaster, I was a Peer Advisor and was involved in various clubs/organizations, including the Rotaract Club, the Outdoors Club, and the Student Food Pantry.

Now, in my personal time, you may see me taking art studio classes on campus for fun. I love creating art, especially painting.  I love to read, play video games, and watch anime, TV shows, and movies. My favorite books are the Hobbit and Harry Potter series, and I love to read poetry. My favorite games include Minecraft, Teamfight Tactics, Magic the Gathering, and Stardew Valley.

I regularly volunteer at HOPE in Lancaster and United Way of Lancaster County, and I serve on the Governing Board of Discovery Charter School in Lancaster. Serving and giving back to my community is important to me.

My Roles

I began working at USC Lancaster in December 2021. Since then, my primary role has been as an academic advisor for first-year students pursuing associate degree in arts and business. I work with students pursuing majors such as art studio, business administration, education, performing arts, psychology, and sport & entertainment management.

My role as an academic advisor is to support students in their intellectual, personal, and educational development. I prioritize forming relationships with my students—getting to know who they are, their background, and their dreams—so I can better guide my students through degree requirements, class selection, and engagement on campus. In my advising practice, I focus on providing support, information, and resources to my students as they face challenges on- or off-campus. I also help students navigate various processes and policies, including submitting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals, Veterans Affairs (VA) Enrollment Certification forms, and Hardship Withdrawals.

I serve as the USC Lancaster CIEL Fellow, which means I am the primary contact, along with Dr. Elizabeth Easley, for the Graduation with Leadership Distinction (GLD) program through the Center for Integrative and Experiential Learning (CIEL) at USC Columbia. GLD is a process that USCL students engage in to better understand how their learning within the classroom connects with their achievements beyond the classroom in experiences such as community service, research, social advocacy projects, study travel, and peer leadership.

I am an adjunct instructor for PCAM 299: College Student Success Skills. I created this online, asynchronous independent study course to help students be successful in a higher education setting. This course is intended for all students, including students on academic probation, fully online students (especially in their first semester), and students returning to education after a break. In this course, students reflect on their educational journey, their strengths, and their dreams. Students will learn practical skills and strategies in time management, organization, communication, goal setting, stress management, test preparation, notetaking, and studying.

In my time at USCL, I have also served in interim roles within Palmetto College Admissions and Student Life. I have served on various USCL committees, including the Academic Honor Code Council; the Access, Opportunity, and Equity Committee; and the Scholarship and Special Awards Committee.
